Bio

Jamie-Leonard During her graduate program at The University of Houston, Jamie received practicum experience at University of Houston Counseling Center. After graduate school, Jamie continued her training in domestic violence and sexual assault at Houston Area Women’s Clinic where she gained invaluable experience working with survivors in individual and group therapy. After graduation, Jamie continued her work with adolescents in a positive peer group recovery program providing individual therapy for dual-diagnosis clients.

During her initial years as a counselor, it became apparent that she especially enjoys working with women and has a heart for the specific challenges of being a teenage girl. As an Adjunct Professor at the University of St. Thomas, Jamie actively engages her students to think critically. She enjoys the enthusiasm and energy of college students and desires to inspire students to actively participate in learning.

Jamie desires to create lasting positive changes in lives through the integration of Biblical principles and sound therapeutic practices.

Jamie has traveled extensively throughout Europe as well as Africa, Middle East and Asia. She is married and has a son. Her husband is a petroleum engineer and her son Austin will graduate from UTD in May 2011.
